Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Colts worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

Whoever sat across the table from the Colts should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The Jackson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Verse.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In pick 24 they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick46 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
A conviction pick on Ja'Tavion Sanders at Round 2, Pick 14 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick56 Rnd2 Mekhi Wingo
A premium they did not need to pay, Mekhi Wingo a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at slot 82 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick87 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Khyree Jackson this early at the 87th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick118 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Kris Abrams-Draine in pick No. 118 leaves quarterback and running back for later.
Pick150 Rnd5 Edefuan Ulofoshio
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edefuan Ulofoshio. The roster fit checks out.
Pick193 Rnd6 Christian Jones
They took Christian Jones at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Dylan McMahon
They went early on Dylan McMahon in the 232nd overall pick, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick242 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
A clean, defensible pick in No. 242 with a little surplus value in Joshua Cephus. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
