Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Colts won the night they stopped Zinter from sliding. Grade: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Colts should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

Landing Zinter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

If Tupuola-Fetui pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 24th pick they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that.
Pick46 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders at No. 46 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick56 Rnd2 D.J. James
A reach for D.J. James in slot 56; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick82 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Good price on Malachi Corley in pick No. 82, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They let Cooper Beebe come to them and pounced at pick 87. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Circle this one: Zak Zinter at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick153 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They liked Zion Tupuola-Fetui enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 153. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick174 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
Value with a capital V on Joe Milton III in the 174th pick, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick193 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
A tidy little value on Josh Proctor in Round 6, Pick 18, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick235 Rnd7 J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver in No. 235 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
