The Colts won the night they stopped Pearl from sliding. Grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Julian Pearl had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Colts did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Ceaser lower, and that gap is the story.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick 15 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 54th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
No edge and no loss on Calen Bullock in pick No. 82; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick85
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
A premium they did not need to pay, Brenden Rice a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
A quiet steal in the 117th overall pick: Zak Zinter for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
A reach on Nelson Ceaser in slot 151; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick191
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
Somehow Kamal Hadden was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 16, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick234
Rnd7
Julian Pearl
Julian Pearl in No. 234 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
