Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB+ FutureB-
Grand theft in the 234th pick: the Colts steal Riley and grade out a B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Quincy Riley had no business being available in No. 234, and the Colts did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Tuten pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In slot 20 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick45 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
A tidy little value on Jihaad Campbell in the 45th pick, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick51 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at pick No. 51 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80 Rnd3 Deone Walker
They let Deone Walker come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick116 Rnd4 Ajani Cornelius
No drama and no debate, Ajani Cornelius went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 15. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick121 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
They liked Darius Alexander enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 121. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick152 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
They paid a round early for Bhayshul Tuten in No. 152, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick191 Rnd6 Connor Colby
Connor Colby in the 191st overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick234 Rnd7 Quincy Riley
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 16 is the definition of value, full stop. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
