Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
The Colts cashed the board's mistake on Alexander: B.

Somebody in the 117th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Colts sat still while Darius Alexander, the No. 93 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Lachey has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In pick No. 14 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Nice patience on Tyler Booker, who had no business lasting to pick 49. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in Round 3, Pick 16 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick117 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in slot 151 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick189 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
They read the board right and Ajani Cornelius was the payoff at the 189th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick193 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
They talked themselves into Luke Lachey at the 193rd pick, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick232 Rnd7 Phil Mafah
Phil Mafah in No. 232 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
