The Colts fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Colts were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The Campbell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the 10th pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter in the 80th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick245
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kitan Crawford. It adds depth where they could use a little.
