Draft Grade — Colts

FutureB-
The Colts let Jackson fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Khyree Jackson got past him. The Colts do not have to explain a thing at the 153rd overall pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Stover pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, running back and other spots still on the board. Reaching for Zinter left real value on the table behind him.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick 16 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders at No. 55 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick80
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They jumped the gun on Zak Zinter, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick81
Rnd3
Edgerrin Cooper
They barely believed it either: Edgerrin Cooper still on the board at slot 81. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick82
Rnd3
Cade Stover
A want over a need in pick No. 82: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while quarterback, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick86
Rnd3
Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall at the 86th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine in the 117th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick153
Rnd5
Khyree Jackson
The board fumbled Khyree Jackson all the way to Round 5, Pick 17, and they scooped it up. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
