FutureB+
Grand theft in the 117th pick: the Colts steal Stutsman and grade out a B+. Somebody in the Round 4 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Colts sat still while Danny Stutsman, the No. 87 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The cost of the Skattebo reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In pick No. 25 they get an enforcer at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Pick45
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland in slot 45 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
The board had Jonah Savaiinaea higher than No. 58, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick79
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 15 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
A big swing on Cam Skattebo at the 80th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Danny Stutsman in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jacob Parrish
They will replay Jacob Parrish at the 151st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick189
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
A slide stopped in pick 189, with Jack Nelson worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick232
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
Value with a capital V on Theo Wease Jr. in Round 7, Pick 16, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick236
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
A straight-up fair deal on Teddye Buchanan at the 236th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
