Draft Grade — Colts

More right than wrong for the Colts, and a B- to prove it. The Theo Johnson pick is the one that will follow the Colts into the fall. They took him 34 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with quarterback, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The Bishop value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In pick 17 they get an island corner. More want than need.
Pick46
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
A tidy little value on Xavier Worthy in the 46th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at Round 3, Pick 18 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick111
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 4 slot on Javon Solomon with quarterback, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick118
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in slot 118 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick150
Rnd5
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in pick No. 150 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick153
Rnd5
Logan Lee
Logan Lee in slot 153 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick193
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylan Ford at pick No. 193 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
