Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Colts: B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Colts walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Schrader. They will need Hartman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In pick No. 15 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick57 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Tavion Sanders. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Nothing to complain about; Malachi Corley went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick87 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They went early on Zak Zinter in slot 87, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick117 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125 Rnd4 Javon Foster
A straight-up fair deal on Javon Foster at Round 4, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick153 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the 153rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Cody Schrader
The board had Cody Schrader higher than No. 174, and the running back fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman in Round 6, Pick 18 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick212 Rnd6 Myles Jones
Myles Jones at pick No. 212 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick217 Rnd6 David Ugwoegbu
They took David Ugwoegbu at par in slot 217, which is nothing to complain about. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick235 Rnd7 Aaron Frost
The board had cheaper options than Aaron Frost at the 235th overall pick, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
