The steal of the weekend belongs to the Colts and Jacobs: B. The real work happened on the phones. The Colts fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
Landing Jacobs that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Hart has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 13th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick19
Rnd1
JC Latham
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick50
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Nubin at No. 50. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick52
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in pick 52. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick82
Rnd3
Cam Hart
Value said wait; Cam Hart in pick No. 82 says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick117
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
A conviction pick on Johnny Wilson at the 117th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick151
Rnd5
Brennan Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Brennan Jackson at Round 5, Pick 15 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick191
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
A reach on Joe Milton III in pick 191; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223
Rnd7
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick234
Rnd7
Edefuan Ulofoshio
No edge and no loss on Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 234th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
