Grand theft in the 80th pick: the Colts steal Henderson and grade out a B. The Colts spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: TreVeyon Henderson, the No. 55 name on the board, in Round 3, Pick 16. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. If Lampkin pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In pick 30 they get a centerfielder for the defense, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick45
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Steal is underselling it; Colston Loveland at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Trey Amos
They did well to land Trey Amos in the 56th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick62
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at Round 2, Pick 30 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach the 80th pick and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jeffrey Bassa
By-the-book stuff, Jeffrey Bassa at pick No. 117 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin at No. 151 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick189
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
A conviction pick on Joshua Gray at slot 189 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick232
Rnd7
Roc Taylor
Roc Taylor at the 232nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
