Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Colts turned the phones into found money: B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Colts were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

Spending an early pick on TE-EDGE with quarterback, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Getting Barrett where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick46 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
A straight-up fair deal on Calen Bullock at Round 2, Pick 14, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick82 Rnd3 Cade Stover
A curious use of pick 82. Quarterback, running back and other spots needed the pick; a TE-EDGE in Cade Stover did not.
Pick99 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
They took Dominick Puni at par in slot 99, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 James Williams
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take James Williams, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick136 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster slipping to the 136th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick153 Rnd5 Edefuan Ulofoshio
They paid sticker price for Edefuan Ulofoshio in No. 153, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick193 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
They read the board right and Michael Barrett was the payoff at the 193rd overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
