Cp DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Vikings robbed the room for Allen. Final grade: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Vikings were there to profit. CJ Allen, the No. 39 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 3 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Hunter has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
Pick50
Rnd2
Eugene Wilson III
By-the-book stuff, Eugene Wilson III at No. 50 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick82
Rnd3
CJ Allen
They will replay CJ Allen at pick 82 for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jack Endries
Jack Endries in the 97th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick118
Rnd4
Roderick Kearney
They reached a country mile for Roderick Kearney at pick No. 118, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick157
Rnd5
Lee Hunter
They talked themselves into Lee Hunter at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick173
Rnd5
Nic Anderson
Nic Anderson in slot 173 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196
Rnd6
Quinten Joyner
Quinten Joyner at the 196th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick208
Rnd6
Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci in the 208th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Daniels at No. 231 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
