If confidence were a draft strategy, the Texans would have aced it. Kaytron Allen at pick 65 is 38 spots clear of where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Stribling pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

In pick 20 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick52 Rnd2 Max Klare
The board fumbled Max Klare all the way to the 52nd pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick56 Rnd2 Deontae Lawson
The board had Deontae Lawson higher than No. 56, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick65 Rnd3 Kaytron Allen
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kaytron Allen. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

A swing that ignored the value entirely, Derrick Moore well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

Steal is underselling it; De'Zhaun Stribling at slot 233 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
