Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Grand theft in the 126th pick: the Bills steal Alexander and grade out a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Zy Alexander, the No. 98 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 126. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The West pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams at Round 2, Pick 7 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick56 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Good price on Trey Amos in the 56th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
The board fumbled Xavier Watts all the way to slot 62, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick72 Rnd3 Jared Ivey
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jared Ivey. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick107 Rnd4 Tai Felton
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Tai Felton graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick126 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
A surprising call. With linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 126 on Zy Alexander, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick170 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Value with a capital V on Bhayshul Tuten in the 170th overall pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173 Rnd5 CJ West
CJ West in pick 173 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick206 Rnd6 Luke Elzinga
They paid a round early for Luke Elzinga in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
