The Buccaneers cashed the board's mistake on Lew: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Buccaneers were there to profit. Connor Lew, the No. 72 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 122. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick54
Rnd2
CJ Allen
They read the board right and CJ Allen was the payoff at the 54th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick62
Rnd2
Sam Leavitt
Steal is underselling it; Sam Leavitt at Round 2, Pick 30 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86
Rnd3
David Bailey
David Bailey at pick No. 86 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122
Rnd4
Connor Lew
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200
Rnd6
Joenel Aguero
They did well to land Joenel Aguero in No. 200, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick235
Rnd7
Dante Moore
Dante Moore in pick 235 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
