Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
B-

FutureB+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bengals a B-. The tape said wait; the Bengals did not. Kenneth Grant went at pick 39, a good 43 picks before the board was ready.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the 11th overall pick they get a disruptive interior force. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
They reached a country mile for Kenneth Grant at pick 39, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick76
Rnd3
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman at No. 76 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick112
Rnd4
Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at pick No. 112 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148
Rnd5
Connor Colby
Fair-plus on Connor Colby, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
