Marvin Lewis DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bengals: B-. The Bengals' one glaring miss is cornerback, a need they left exactly as they found it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Hall has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. However the rest shakes out, McNeil-Warren at that price is a win they earned.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at the 10th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick41
Rnd2
CJ Allen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, CJ Allen at slot 41. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick72
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick110
Rnd4
Zachariah Branch
A tidy little value on Zachariah Branch in pick 110, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick187
Rnd6
Quinten Joyner
They paid sticker price for Quinten Joyner in the 187th overall pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick197
Rnd6
Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci at No. 197 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Value said wait; Jordan Hall in pick No. 226 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
