Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall

FutureB-
The Falcons kept it disciplined and banked a B-. Every other box got a look, but offensive lineman did not. The Falcons will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
If Thrash pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. However the rest shakes out, Smith at that price is a win they earned.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat slipping to pick 56 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick74
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
A premium they did not need to pay, Calen Bullock a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick79
Rnd3
Max Melton
Max Melton at slot 79 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss in the 87th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
A real head-scratcher, Jamari Thrash in pick No. 109 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick156
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
Nice patience on Ainias Smith, who had no business lasting to the 156th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Value with a capital V on Marist Liufau in Round 5, Pick 38, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick187
Rnd6
Ro Torrence
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Ro Torrence graded well above the range. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick197
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at the 197th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
