The Dolphins let Burnip fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Dolphins were there to profit. James Burnip, the No. 160 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 231. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Reaching for Rivers left real value on the table behind him. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
