FutureA-
The Buccaneers let Walker fall and pounced. Final grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Devontez Walker had no business being available in pick No. 190, and the Buccaneers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If Tagovailoa pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The Sanders pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots still on the board. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value.
Pick48
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 48th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick65
Rnd3
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at pick No. 65 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick74
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
They talked themselves into Andrew Mukuba at the 74th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick95
Rnd3
Shilo Sanders
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Shilo Sanders adds a safety and leaves interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick110
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent No. 110 on Khyree Jackson, a defensive back they were not short of.
Pick180
Rnd6
Riley Leonard
No edge and no loss on Riley Leonard in Round 6, Pick 5; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190
Rnd6
Devontez Walker
They will replay Devontez Walker at slot 190 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick210
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, De'Corian Clark in slot 210, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick220
Rnd6
Taulia Tagovailoa
A big swing on Taulia Tagovailoa at No. 220, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick231
Rnd7
Carson Steele
No drama and no debate, Carson Steele went about where he belonged in the 231st overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233
Rnd7
Kaimon Rucker
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kaimon Rucker this early at pick 233. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
