FutureA+
The phones sank the Chiefs this weekend: D+. The rest of the league had time to spare on Madden Sanker; the Chiefs did not wait, grabbing him 145 spots ahead at pick No. 251. Put together, it is a D+.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bell.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick94
Rnd3
Skyler Bell
Skyler Bell is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Jack Endries in pick 109 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Eric Rivers
By-the-book stuff, Eric Rivers at the 131st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
No drama and no debate, Davison Igbinosun went about where he belonged in the 147th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick177
Rnd5
Jaydn Ott
A slide stopped in slot 177, with Jaydn Ott worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan in Round 5, Pick 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick215
Rnd6
Jalen Catalon
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Catalon well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick247
Rnd7
Jacobe Johnson
Jacobe Johnson at pick 247 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick251
Rnd7
Madden Sanker
Madden Sanker in the 251st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jeremiah Walker
A real head-scratcher, Jeremiah Walker in No. 254 is miles ahead of his ranking. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick255
Rnd7
Cade Denhoff
Cade Denhoff at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
