Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Chiefs. The rest of the league had time to spare on Eric O'Neill; the Chiefs did not wait, grabbing him 40 spots ahead at the Round 5 slot.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiyah Love. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at slot 40 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange in No. 74 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at the 109th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick147
Rnd5
Eric O'Neill
They left a pile of value on the table to take Eric O'Neill this early at the 147th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick177
Rnd5
Trinidad Chambliss
Nothing to complain about; Trinidad Chambliss went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
