Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA- FutureB-
Grand theft in Round 2, Pick 25: the Chiefs steal Trice and grade out a B+.

When a board-topper like Bralen Trice slides to the Round 2 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Reaching for Briningstool left real value on the table behind him. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
In pick 25 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
The board fumbled Bralen Trice all the way to No. 57, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89 Rnd3 Tyler Guyton
They robbed the room for Tyler Guyton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick167 Rnd5 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil slid further than he should have, and slot 167 is lovely value for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick171 Rnd5 Braden Fiske
No edge and no loss on Braden Fiske in the 171st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 175 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jake Briningstool
They jumped the gun on Jake Briningstool, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick246 Rnd7 Chau Smith-Wade
Chau Smith-Wade at the 246th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
