Draft Grade — Chiefs

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs. The Chiefs' one glaring miss is tight end, a need they left exactly as they found it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Reaching for Haynes left real value on the table behind him. On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
Christian Haynes
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Haynes a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick92
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Mike Sainristil worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick129
Rnd4
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
The board had cheaper options than Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick 129, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
Cedric Johnson
Cedric Johnson at No. 161 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick171
Rnd5
LaDarius Henderson
Value with a capital V on LaDarius Henderson in the 171st overall pick, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175
Rnd5
Cody Schrader
They let Cody Schrader come to them and pounced at the 175th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick207
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones is a better player than pick No. 207 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick250
Rnd7
Myles Cole
They did well to land Myles Cole in Round 7, Pick 30, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
