Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesD FutureA
The Chiefs did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

Give the room credit for holding its nerve. A.J. Haulcy came off the board 17 spots later than his grade, and the Chiefs were the ones waiting when he fell.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Greene III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Christen Miller
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Value with a capital V on Caleb Banks in slot 40, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick62 Rnd2 Eli Stowers
No drama and no debate, Eli Stowers went about where he belonged in pick 62. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy is a better player than pick No. 74 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick109 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
The board had Kaytron Allen higher than No. 109, and the running back fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick150 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
A reach on Earnest Greene III in Round 5, Pick 12; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick176 Rnd5 Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss at pick 176 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick215 Rnd6 Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams in Round 6, Pick 36 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
