FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Daniels in the fold, and a B- for the Bears. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Randolph Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
Reaching for Mincey left real value on the table behind him.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 1st pick they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him.
Pick5
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 5 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick69
Rnd3
T.J. Tampa
Somehow T.J. Tampa was still sitting there in No. 69, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick110
Rnd4
Howard Cross III
No edge and no loss on Howard Cross III in slot 110; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in the 128th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick142
Rnd5
Gerald Mincey
A reach for Gerald Mincey in Round 5, Pick 6; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick183
Rnd6
Cody Schrader
Nothing to complain about; Cody Schrader went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick188
Rnd6
Theo Johnson
A clean, defensible pick in pick 188 with a little surplus value in Theo Johnson. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick226
Rnd7
Keith Randolph Jr.
They robbed the room for Keith Randolph Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick247
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
