CHEIFSMAFIA DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Falcons. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Falcons did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to offensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most.
On value alone, Curry makes the weekend a net positive. They will need Hobbs to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick48
Rnd2
Keith Abney II
Nothing to complain about; Keith Abney II went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick79
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at the 79th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick114
Rnd4
Caden Curry
Value with a capital V on Caden Curry in pick No. 114, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick195
Rnd6
Daevin Hobbs
Daevin Hobbs at the 195th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 15 with a little surplus value in Ethan O'Connor. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
