The Chiefs cashed the board's mistake on Gordon II: B-. When a board-topper like Ollie Gordon II slides to the 256th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. Arroyo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Tight end was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In pick 31 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trey Amos at the 63rd pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick66
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in slot 66 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
They robbed the room for Omarr Norman-Lott here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick132
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Joshua Farmer at No. 132 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137
Rnd4
Vernon Broughton
No edge and no loss on Vernon Broughton in the 137th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick173
Rnd5
Logan Brown
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Logan Brown in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick187
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
They will replay DJ Giddens at pick No. 187 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick256
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
