Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB
FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Seahawks. The Seahawks treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 7, Pick 3 on Tyler Owens a full 32 spots early.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the 17th overall pick they get a blindside protector. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick94
Rnd3
Cedric Gray
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cedric Gray in slot 94, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, McKinnley Jackson well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick112
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
No edge and no loss on Elijah Jones in No. 112; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick118
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at pick No. 118 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick124
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara in Round 4, Pick 24 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick148
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
Nothing to complain about; Tommy Eichenberg went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick179
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick192
Rnd6
Tanner McLachlan
They paid up for Tanner McLachlan at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick215
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in slot 215 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick223
Rnd7
Tyler Owens
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Owens this early at pick No. 223. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick235
Rnd7
Edefuan Ulofoshio
They took Edefuan Ulofoshio at par in No. 235, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
