Nobody dealt better than the Bears this weekend: A-. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bears were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Newton at that price is a win they earned.
The Joel Bitonio deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In the end it comes back to Malik Nabers, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In slot 2 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick10
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Josh Newton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Josh Newton in pick No. 75. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
