FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Chargers this weekend: B+. The Chargers put a flag in the ground for Eric Gregory, 44 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. On value alone, Restrepo makes the weekend a net positive.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Osa Odighizuwa gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In No. 29 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at the 49th pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick64
Rnd2
Bradyn Swinson
Nothing to complain about; Bradyn Swinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick78
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick129
Rnd4
Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at the 129th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick158
Rnd5
Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at pick No. 158 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick183
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Kiser at the 183rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick257
Rnd7
Eric Gregory
They talked themselves into Eric Gregory at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
