The board owed the Chargers one, and it paid up: Cobee Bryant, the No. 175 name on the board, sitting there at slot 214 like a gift left on the doorstep.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

They will need Nash to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
