Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall

FutureC
The Chargers robbed the room for Warren. Final grade: C. Somebody in No. 48 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chargers sat still while Tyler Warren, the No. 17 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will need Watson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a bell-cow for the offense at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick48
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in pick No. 48 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Higgins. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick86
Rnd3
David Walker
David Walker at No. 86 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick181
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
A real head-scratcher, Joshua Gray in slot 181 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick199
Rnd6
Desmond Watson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Desmond Watson well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick209
Rnd6
Cam Jackson
They reached into another round for Cam Jackson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick256
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
The board fumbled Isaac TeSlaa all the way to pick 256, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
