Paul1122 DRAFTING FOR THEChargers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Chargers. Everything else got attention, and wide receiver got none. That is a strange way for the Chargers to leave a draft. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The cost of the Heldt reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
A'Mauri Washington
In pick No. 22 they get an anchor for the defensive front, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55
Rnd2
Will Heldt
They jumped the gun on Will Heldt, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick86
Rnd3
Kade Pieper
No edge and no loss on Kade Pieper in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick123
Rnd4
A.J. Harris
A.J. Harris in pick 123 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick202
Rnd6
Sheridan Wilson
Sheridan Wilson at the 202nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
