Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chargers and Carter: B.

The Chargers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Barrett Carter, the No. 83 name on the board, in pick No. 220. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Brosmer has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In the 22nd overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in pick No. 55 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick86 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick124 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
Good price on Terrance Ferguson in Round 4, Pick 23, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick159 Rnd5 Jake Majors
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at pick 159 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick177 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
They robbed the room for Lathan Ransom here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick183 Rnd6 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at No. 183 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick201 Rnd6 Max Brosmer
A big swing on Max Brosmer at slot 201, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
Pick215 Rnd6 Ricky White III
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 37, with Ricky White III worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick220 Rnd7 Barrett Carter
Taking Barrett Carter in pick 220 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick253 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in slot 253 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
