Draft Grade — Chargers

The Chargers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Chargers clearly saw something nobody else did in Zion Logue, taking him 33 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That King pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In No. 5 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in the 37th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick69
Rnd3
Blake Corum
They went early on Blake Corum in Round 3, Pick 5, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick105
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
They took Zak Zinter at par in slot 105, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaheim Bell. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick154
Rnd5
Kalen King
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kalen King at the Round 5 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick155
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at Round 5, Pick 19 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick181
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
A real head-scratcher, Jaylan Ford in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick225
Rnd7
Evan Williams
They let Evan Williams come to them and pounced at the 225th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick253
Rnd7
Zion Logue
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zion Logue well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
