There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chargers took Hunter Nourzad a full 49 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hampton.

The Chargers paired the rookies with proven help, Jonathan Taylor leading the way. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.
