Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Chargers for Emmanwori: B.

The Chargers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Nick Emmanwori fell into the 55th overall pick.

The cost of the Hancock reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Colston Loveland
In the Round 1 slot they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in slot 55 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick79 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor in Round 3, Pick 15 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick86 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in No. 86 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
A straight-up fair deal on Ashton Gillotte at pick No. 90, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick125 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier is a better player than the 125th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick158 Rnd5 Que Robinson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Que Robinson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jordan Hancock
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jordan Hancock this early at the 181st pick. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick199 Rnd6 Kyle Monangai
They liked Kyle Monangai enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 199. The roster fit checks out.
Pick209 Rnd6 Phil Mafah
A conviction pick on Phil Mafah at pick 209 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick214 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
They paid a round early for Carson Vinson in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick256 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 256 with a little surplus value in Ty Hamilton. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
