Paul1122 DRAFTING FOR THEChargers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chargers: B-. Every other box got a look, but cornerback did not. The Chargers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Reed at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In pick 22 they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick86
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Burch. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jamaree Caldwell
By-the-book stuff, Jamaree Caldwell at No. 125 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick158
Rnd5
Kalel Mullings
Kalel Mullings at slot 158 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick181
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ollie Gordon II at pick No. 181 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick199
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed slid further than he should have, and the 199th overall pick is lovely value for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick209
Rnd6
Jordan Hancock
They took Jordan Hancock at par in Round 6, Pick 33, which is nothing to complain about. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick214
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
The board had Luke Lachey higher than pick 214, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256
Rnd7
Hunter Wohler
A straight-up fair deal on Hunter Wohler at the 256th pick, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
