More right than wrong for the Chargers, and a B- to prove it. The tape said wait; the Chargers did not. Trey Zuhn III went at the Round 6 slot, a good 26 picks before the board was ready. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Slaughter. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Gennings Dunker
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
The board had Jake Slaughter higher than slot 55, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington is a better player than pick 86 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick123
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
No drama and no debate, Chase Bisontis went about where he belonged in the 123rd pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick202
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
They reached into another round for Trey Zuhn III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
