Good, not great, for the Chargers: B-. The war room fell hard for Chase Bisontis, and it showed at the Round 3 slot: 42 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. On value alone, Slaughter makes the weekend a net positive.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Matayo Uiagalelei
In slot 22 they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Nice patience on Jake Slaughter, who had no business lasting to pick No. 55. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86
Rnd3
Chase Bisontis
They reached a country mile for Chase Bisontis at Round 3, Pick 22, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick204
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
Value said wait; Trey Zuhn III in No. 204 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
