The Chargers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: MJ Sherman, 59 picks early at the Round 7 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They banked enough surplus on Allen to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

In slot 5 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 5 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick69 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
They went early on Mike Sainristil in pick 69, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139 Rnd5 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at the 139th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick183 Rnd6 Braelon Allen
A running back of that caliber at the 183rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick223 Rnd7 Steele Chambers
They reached into another round for Steele Chambers, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick256 Rnd7 MJ Sherman
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for MJ Sherman. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
