Lew should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Connor Lew fell into the 94th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
