The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: KeAndre Lambert-Smith, the No. 198 name on the board, sitting there at slot 226 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Reaching for Croskey-Merritt left real value on the table behind him. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
