Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys won the night they stopped Fifita from sliding. Grade: B-.

The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Noah Fifita, the No. 94 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 33 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Martinez pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Harold Perkins Jr.
In the 16th overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick47 Rnd2 Ollie Gordon II
No drama and no debate, Ollie Gordon II went about where he belonged in No. 47. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick86 Rnd3 Bear Alexander
Taking Bear Alexander in pick 86 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea in slot 117 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick125 Rnd4 Shemar Stewart
Shemar Stewart at Round 4, Pick 24 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick153 Rnd5 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick160 Rnd5 Tonka Hemingway
They jumped the gun on Tonka Hemingway, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169 Rnd5 Shemar Turner
No edge and no loss on Shemar Turner in pick No. 169; it is a wash and a sensible one. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick170 Rnd5 Logan Parr
A big swing on Logan Parr at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171 Rnd5 Damien Martinez
They reached a country mile for Damien Martinez at the 171st pick, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick189 Rnd6 Cashius Howell
A tidy bit of business in the 189th overall pick, where Cashius Howell graded well above the range. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick208 Rnd6 Noah Fifita
Noah Fifita in pick No. 208 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jay Toia
Jay Toia at pick 248 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
