Draft Grade — Falcons

FutureA+
The Falcons worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-. The war room fell hard for Zion Logue, and it showed at slot 152: 109 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That Guyton pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The Falcons paired the rookies with proven help, Cam Taylor-Britt leading the way.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick Analysis
Pick49
Rnd2
Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims at No. 49 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick60
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in pick 60 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick74
Rnd3
Tyler Guyton
They barely believed it either: Tyler Guyton still on the board at pick No. 74. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick116
Rnd4
Keith Randolph Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Keith Randolph Jr. this early at slot 116. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick131
Rnd4
Grayson Murphy
They reached into another round for Grayson Murphy, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick135
Rnd4
Layden Robinson
Layden Robinson at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick142
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
They will replay Ainias Smith at the 142nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jaylen Harrell
They talked themselves into Jaylen Harrell at pick No. 148, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick152
Rnd5
Zion Logue
Zion Logue at the 152nd pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick156
Rnd5
Aki Ogunbiyi
A real head-scratcher, Aki Ogunbiyi in Round 5, Pick 20 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick162
Rnd5
Christian Jones
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Christian Jones well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick164
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Circle this one: Kamal Hadden at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
No drama and no debate, Jaylan Ford went about where he belonged in slot 175. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick177
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
They liked Michael Barrett enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 177. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick189
Rnd6
Xavier Thomas
Xavier Thomas in pick 189 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick201
Rnd6
Taulia Tagovailoa
They reached a country mile for Taulia Tagovailoa at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick218
Rnd6
Devin Leary
Devin Leary at the 218th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick241
Rnd7
Sheridan Jones
Value with a capital V on Sheridan Jones in slot 241, a genuine coup. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick246
Rnd7
Daequan Hardy
A slide stopped in No. 246, with Daequan Hardy worth more than the price. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick252
Rnd7
Zakhari Franklin
The board had Zakhari Franklin higher than the 252nd overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
