GWNeRG DRAFTING FOR THERaiders
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Raiders bet the future on Penix Jr.. The board says B. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If Capehart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Landing Barton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Michael Penix Jr.
A tidy little value on Michael Penix Jr. in slot 13, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Guyton in No. 44. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77
Rnd3
Graham Barton
Graham Barton at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick112
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
The board had cheaper options than Darius Robinson at Round 4, Pick 12, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick150
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
They read the board right and Kamal Hadden was the payoff at the 150th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick190
Rnd6
Isaiah Davis
Good price on Isaiah Davis in pick No. 190, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick234
Rnd7
DeMonte Capehart
They reached a country mile for DeMonte Capehart at the 234th pick, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
