CB2SB DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Mendoza is the Browns' new face under center. Grade: B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Browns spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Wilson proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Spencer Fano
In the 6th pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick19
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick 19 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Caleb Lomu
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caleb Lomu. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick70
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at Round 3, Pick 6 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
No drama and no debate, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146
Rnd5
Nic Anderson
Nic Anderson at slot 146 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147
Rnd5
J.C. Davis
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and J.C. Davis at pick No. 147 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Justin Joly
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Justin Joly in No. 148. It fills a real need, too.
Pick197
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
They went early on Raylen Wilson in Round 6, Pick 18, and the value did not follow. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick240
Rnd7
Nolan Rucci
They did well to land Nolan Rucci in the 240th pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
